The firm is founded under the name Bufete Batalla & Asociados with two lawyers, a student and a secretary.
2002
Batalla advises on the structuring and regulatory compliance of the first "waste to energy" project to be a clean development mechanism in Costa Rica.
2003
Batalla participates as legal advisor in the first sale of a private university in Costa Rica.
2004
In just 3 years, the firm raises the number of partners to four and six times its number of professionals. For the first time, the firm is considered one of the most prominent firms in Costa Rica by international publications.
2005
Batalla is selected to attend the first tobacco-related product liability litigation in Costa Rica.
2006
We moved to a new building located in Barrio Escalante, with more than 2,000 m2 of useful office area.
2007
Batalla advises for the first time in the formation and capitalization process of an international private equity fund.
2008
Batalla incorporates Gastón Certad, a prominent professor of commercial law, as counsel to the firm.
2009
Batalla advises his client, El Ángel, on the legal implications of the damages and suspension of operations from the Cinchona earthquake.
2010
The firm changes its name to Batalla Abogados and joins Lawyers Associated Worldwide, an international network of law firm firms with 97 member firms in more than 170 jurisdictions throughout the world.
Batalla is considered by its clients as "consistently phenomenal", according to the main rating agencies.
2012
Chambers & Partners nominates Batalla for the first time for the award for Costa Rican firm of the year, a fact that has been repeated uninterruptedly to date.
2013
The firm obtains for the first time the recognition of Leading Light from The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice and Latin Lawyer as the leading firm in Pro Bono matters in Costa Rica, an achievement that has been repeated every year.
2014
Batalla adds its fifth partner and begins a process of modernization and institutionalization of the firm.
2015
Batalla culminates a successful representation of more than a decade of its client, Alcatel, in connection with allegations of corruption in Costa Rica.

Batalla advises on the structuring, regulatory compliance, construction and operation of the first solar photovoltaic plant built by a private company in Costa Rica under a PPP modality, thus adding advice on more than 500 MW in electricity generation projects from different renewable sources in Central America.
2016
We moved to our modern offices in Sabana Business Center, an ideal location for business.
Batalla becomes the first Central American firm to be selected to represent one of the parties in an international investment arbitration before the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes in Washington, D.C.

Batalla advises the company China Harbor Engineering Company in the execution of the contract for the rehabilitation and expansion of 107 km of the highway to Limón.

The firm modernizes its image and removes the “Lawyers” from its name, reflecting the beginning of the launch of its first non-legal vertical.

The firm assumes the representation of one of the defendants in the FIFAgate case, directing his defense together with lawyers in the United States and Switzerland.
Batalla joins the prestigious network of TAG Alliances lawyers and accountants with a presence in 110 countries and more than 20,000 professionals worldwide. Three years later, one of its partners is appointed to the organization's worldwide Board of Directors.

The firm successfully completed the strategic, legal and public relations consultancy with which the iconic Gran Hotel Costa Rica was rescued, the first mixed building in the country.
Batalla incorporates a partner and launches his practice of sports and entertainment law.
2019
Batalla promotes two new partners and strengthens its regulatory and business law practices.
2020
In the midst of a pandemic, the Firm exceeds US $ 5 billion in advised corporate transactions and promotes a new partner, solidifying the leadership of its public law and government affairs practice.
The firm ends the year expanding its international footprint by entering the SCG network of law firms and strengthening ties with more than 700 firms globally.

Today, Batalla is preparing to enhance its reputation as an innovative firm with new challenges that will allow it to better serve its clients.
