Biography

Sergio Amador focuses his practice on private equity transactions and copyright. His experience also includes advices in Business, Commercial and Corporate Law combined with litigation in copyright infringement.

He graduated in law from the University of Costa Rica (2006) (Universidad de Costa Rica) and a Master of Laws in European Law, major in Economic Law and Foreign Trade Europa-Institut der Universität des Saarlandes - Germany (with high recognition - sehr gut, 2008).

His Master's thesis "The precautionary principle in the MSF Agreement" was awarded the highest distinction (ausgezeichnet) and was published in Journal of Law Zeitschrift für Europa-Institut Europarechtliche Studien (Zeus). He is a member of the Bar Association of Costa Rica.

Biography

Abraham advises national and international clients in highly technical issues related to dispute resolutions. He focuses his practice in judicial and arbitration litigation and has specialized in class actions.

As Professor of Procedural Law at the University of Costa Rica, he has developed academic skills and has actively participated as a speaker at seminars and conferences. He is the author of several academic papers related to different aspects of procedural law.

Biography

Alejandro advises local and foreign clients in Constitutional and Administrative Law, and various aspects of the partnerships and tax Law. He has extensive experience in advising foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, and has been an advisor to venture capital firms.

Biography

Mariano Batalla represents multinational companies in corporate and compliance matters, M&A transactions and oversees legal aspects of due diligence, financing and development of large-scale real estate projects.

Drawing on his business expertise and training, Mariano combines design thinking and strategy consulting methodologies to cross-border transactions and corporate affairs.

He is an Officer of the Law Firm Management Committee of the International Bar Association, Visiting Professor of Service Design and Entrepreneurship at INCAE Business School and Adjuct Professor of Business at Universidad de Costa Rica School of Business.  Mariano is also a Founding Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers chapter in Costa Rica and a former instructor of innovation and entrepreneurship at Harvard University.

As part of his active citizenship leadership within the firm, he serves as Director of the Board of Fundación Paniamor and was board member at the Asociación de Vecinos de Barrio Escalante, a pioneering public-private partnership that earned the firm The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice and Latin Lawyer’s Leading Light recognition as a Pro Bono law firm leader in Costa Rica.

Rodrigo is recognized as a leader in his field by Chambers & Partners and is also recommended as a transactional practitioner in IFLR 1000 Euromoney - The Guide to the World's Leading Financial Firms.

He graduated in law from the University of Costa Rica (1993), he has an MBA from Indiana University (1996) and is a Fulbright scholar. His continuing education includes a Bachelor's Degree in Special Markets (University of Costa Rica, 2001) and several courses in business and corporate finance. He is a member of the Costa Rican Bar Association and represents the Firm in the Latin American Venture Capital Association (LAVCA).
